How do I figure out the postage for mailing a small t-shirt inside a manila envelope?
I’m sending a lightweight hanes t-shirt to a friend in NY from FL and I put it inside a manila envelope. I plan on sending it frmo my mailbox tomorrow but I do not know what to put for postage! Help?
The postage rate will depend on the size of the manilla envelope and weight. Sending it via a medium-sized manilla envelope will most likely require you to use the USPS rate for “Large Envelopes and Flats.”
You can send it via three classes:
Example: 13 oz. (guessing what a t-shirt weighs) Large Envelope and Flat:
First Class – $2.92
Priority Mail – $4.95
Parcel Post – $4.90
A better option might be try and send it in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope. You can pick up the envelopes for free at your local post office. A t-shirt should fit in it and the cost would be $4.80 using Stamps.com’s discount. Plus, you would get free online tracking to make sure your package got to its desitnation OK. First Class and Parcel Post would require you to pay extra for package tracking.
