Value of Detroit Renaissance Center Limited Edition Mod. 19 S&W?
I have just come into a Mod. 19 S&W Detroit Renaissance Center Commemorative revolver. Presented at the opening of the RenCen in 1978, it was a limited run given to all the important people responsible for building of the RenCen. Never fired in 100% condition, 4 inch barrel, with Renaissance Center in gold leaf on barrel. Also, medallion of Detroit Police badge in gold leaf on frame above grips. 1 of 865 roll stamped on frame below cylinder. Came with wooden presentation case with all the commemorative markings, as well as the blue cardboard shipping box with all info from S&W marked on end. I have no idea of this firearm’s worth outside of Blue Book valuation for standard Mod.19. If anybody has an idea, please contact me. I would appreciate the help.
Limited Edition commemoritives are sometimes hard to pin a value on, as it’s uncertain how much interest there is in the commoration.
Certainly you have a mint condition well finished beautiful example of a Model 19, now how much interest is there in the Detroit Renaissance Center I do not know.
I’d say you likely have something at least $750 and maybe several times that. It seems rare but then again, interest around Detroit will be higher than elsewhere…..
