Full tort or limited tort… Is it worth it to spend the extra 15% to get full tort car insurance?
I am 21 and getting my first new car tomorrow. I am looking for car insurance. It looks like I could save about 15% on my car insurance if I get limited tort instead of full tort. What do I risk by only getting limited tort? Is it worth the money?

Here in PA you “buy” the right to make a (possible) future claim for pain and suffering due to a car accident.
Limited Tort is cheaper, and means you can’t sue for pain and suffering due to an auto accident unless your injuries breach a certain threshold, the general rule being, “severe, permanent, and/or disfiguring.” Ergo, if all you have is soft tissue (whiplash) you wouldn’t have the right to more than your medical bills and wage loss. No “extra” money. Facial scarring, lose a spleen, other serious injuries — you’d be allowed even if you only paid for Limited Tort.
Full Tort, more expensive, allows you to present a claim regardless of the severity of the injury – bruises to broken bones, whiplash to sprains. It doesn’t GUARANTEE a claim, mind you, just allows you the right to present one.
All insurance is a gamble, really. You have to balance the odds of something happening against how you would feel after it did happen.
